A planning application has been submitted for a new community venue on Bridge Street in Stourport-on-Severn. The site was formerly a car park and is now being developed on behalf of Wyre Forest District Council by One Creative.
The design has been refined following public consultation and stakeholder engagement. The building will feature red brickwork and a dark grey slate roof, intended to complement the listed buildings opposite and the historic character of Bridge Street. A distinctive tooth roofline — inspired by Stourport's historic warehouse and factory buildings — will create a visual link to the town's industrial heritage and allow for a mezzanine level within the building.
The scheme also includes new landscaping, trees, seating areas, and pedestrian routes to create an attractive community space.
What the building will offer
The multi-purpose building is designed to accommodate everyday activities including informal gatherings, lunch breaks, and group meetings. It will also support larger community events such as festivals, pop-up food vendors, and outdoor performances, with flexible spaces intended to serve different community needs throughout the day and across seasons.
