The Piano Building and Kidderminster Town Hall have been shortlisted for Regeneration Project of the Year at the West Midlands Property Awards 2026. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 12 November, organised by Insider Media to celebrate leading projects and teams across the region's property sector.
Both buildings underwent major refurbishments and opened in late 2025. Wyre Forest District Council transformed the Grade II listed Piano Building, a former carpet factory, into modern office and food and drink space. The project was delivered in partnership with ONE Creative environments and Speller Metcalfe.
Kidderminster Town Council led the refurbishment of Kidderminster Town Hall, creating an improved music hall, new café, bar and event space. Gleeds and Speller Metcalfe supported the project.
Both regeneration projects were funded through the Government's Levelling Up Fund as part of the wider regeneration of Kidderminster town centre.
Councillor Dan Morehead, Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning and the Green Agenda, said: "It is fantastic to see The Piano Building and Kidderminster Town Hall recognised together in this way. Both projects have brought landmark historic buildings back to life, while creating modern spaces that will support businesses, culture and the local economy."
Further Recognition
The council's regeneration projects have also received regional recognition this year. The Piano Building was shortlisted at the RICS UK Awards, while The Old Court and Weaving Sheds were highly commended in the Best Public or Community Building category at the Local Authority Building Control Awards.
Space at The Piano Building is available for office, leisure, and food and drink use. Further details are available on the Wyre Forest Space website.
